TRIP TO TORONTO & NIAGARA FALLS
July 24-29
$2950
minus $200 if flying on your own
minus $250 if sharing a room
The itinerary is 90% done, but (as always) subject to change. NOTE, the dates of the trip have changed!
The hotel we have reserved is the Omni King Edward Hotel, in the heart of downtown Toronto, and walking distance from many attractions. The King Edward was the first hotel ever built in Toronto, with 400 rooms and 300 baths, and in 2013 underwent a $40 million renovation when it was purchased by Omni, which was completed in 2015.
Our adventure in Toronto will include a trip up to the observation deck at the CN Tower, one of the world’s most popular tourist spots. On the observation deck, we will have the opportunity to walk out and stand 1,151 feet above the ground. Being so high up will allow us to get amazing views of the surrounding city. We will go to the mysterious, historic Casa Loma where we will have the adventure of a lifetime. At this Gothic castle, we will have the opportunity to tour the 5-acre gardens, explore secret tunnels, walk around the grounds and explore inside the castle suites and halls. It is like walking back in time. Another can’t-miss moment of this tour includes the trip aboard the Toronto Harbour Cruise. We will board a boat where we will be able to see breathtaking views of Toronto’s skyline. We will also get to see the busy, bustling waterfront and nearby Toronto Islands. Other highlights include driving tour of Eaton Centre, Dundas Square, Queen’s Park and a short stop at the St. Lawrence Market.
We will visit Ripley’s Aquarium, the #1 attraction on TripAdvisor in its list of “things to do” in Toronto. Canada’s largest indoor aquarium located in the heart of downtown Toronto will immerse us in a world with 20,000 aquatic animals, North America’s longest underwater viewing tunnel, and more than 1.5 million gallons of water. Also on the menu is the Royal Ontario Museum, Canada’s biggest natural history museum, featuring natural science, ancient civilizations, and art exhibits. The Chinese temple sculptures, Gallery of Korean Art, and costumery and textile collections are some of the best in the world.
Other things that we are working on, but are not yet confirmed:
For Niagara Falls, we will depart from our hotel in a luxury bus for an hour and a half ride to one of the most famous bodies of water in North America. Our guide will get us up close to the Canadian, American and Horseshoe falls. We will travel down the parkway to see some of the highlights of the region, and also go atop the Skylon Tower, to the Power Generating Stations, the Floral Clock, Queens-town Heights, and Fort George leading up to Niagara on the lake. We can even go behind the main town to view the lake and some exquisite Victorian and Georgian homes. Other options available to us at Niagara: visiting an estate winery for a wine tasting including Niagara’s famous ice wine; the Journey Behind the Falls, where you will stand at the heart of Niagara after descending 125 feet to explore 130-year-old tunnels, but you’ll feel the thunderous vibration of the Horseshoe Falls long before you see them; and the observation deck at the foot of this 13-story-tall wonder will leave you breathless (and maybe a little bit wet). The viewing portals cut straight through the rock, offering a once-in-a-lifetime view of one-fifth of the world’s fresh water crashing down in front of you.
WE NEED DEPOSITS FOR THIS TRIP ASAP TO SECURE HOTEL ROOMS.
