On a past Williamsburg walking tour, our group asked Ben the tour-guide, to put together a “street-art” tour of Bushwick, and he came through. Vogue recently named Bushwick the second coolest neighborhood on the planet. Join us as we visit this nexus of the street art world reminiscent of the SOHO art scene in the 70s. We will meet in Union Square and ride the L train together to the Jefferson stop where the tour kicks off. We start with a half a mile (roughly 10 blocks) tour and end up at a studio warehouse where many artists call home. Enjoy an insider look at the art world as we meet and hear from working Brooklyn artists in their studios and take home a small piece of original art from one of the artists or a swag bag of art related goodies. The tour is interactive and mediums involved include paint, neon, sculpture and more. Highlights include a half mile street art walk through the famous ‘Five Points’ featuring wall after wall of large scale street art, a welcome drink, an art curator led talk at the innovative Parenthesis Art Space (you have got to see this space), art swag bag with art gifts and valuable information about how to start an art collection, two artist studio visits, informative, friendly and professional guide, tour concludes with refreshments and discussion. About 50% of the proceeds go to the artists and the art organization.
